The Lewis and Clark College Pioneers improve to 3-0 on the season after their 41-17 victory Saturday against the Macalester College Scots.
The Pioneers offense got off to a slow start, offensively and defensively, falling 10-0 before they decided to ramp things up towards the end of the 1st half and gain a 13-10 advantage heading into the locker rooms.
The second half was a much different story. The Pioneers used their no huddle offense to gas the Scots and have their way with them up and down the field. Junior QB Keith Welch was 24-35 passing throwing for 312 yards and 2 TDs. The defense played solid the entire game and held the Scots' starting RB to 2.2 yards/carry.
Notable Performances:
Offense:
Keith Welch put up impressive numbers, throwing for 312 yards and 2 TDs and adding another 2 TDs with his legs.
Senior WR Evan Stanbro had 5 receptions for 112 yards to lead the Pioneer receiving corps.
Defense:
Senior John Berokoff had 7 tackles, 2 TFL and 2 sacks to lead the Pioneer defense. He also had a forced fumble.
Sophomore Josh Cena adds another interception to his stat line and this time took it to the HOUSE for the second defensive touchdown of the season.
The Pioneers are on the road this weekend taking on the Loggers of Puget Sound in Tacoma on Saturday.
