Pioneers Chop Down the Loggers 55-42

The Pioneers remain undefeated after this weekend's victory against the University of Puget Sound Loggers. This is the second straight season that the Pioneers have started 4-0 and the forth consecutive win against the Loggers.

Lewis and Clark's offense has been rolling this year and yesterday was no different. The Pio offense moved the ball at will racking up 610 yards of total offense along with scoring 55 points. The offense only punted once the entire game.

The Pioneer defense had a couple of clutch interceptions at key points in the game to halter the Logger offense.

Lewis and Clark College will be hosting the Pacific Lutheran University Lutes next weekend. Come check and support your Pioneers as the Lutes look for revenge after last year's Pio come from behind victory. Kick-off is at 1pm.

Notable Performances:
Offense
Junior QB Keith Welch once again put up some incredible numbers. Welch threw for 342 yards and 4 TDs and then used his legs to rush for another 3 TDs.

Sophomore WR was Welch's favorite receiver Saturday picking up 140 yards and a TD on 6 receptions.

Jacob Costantino proves to be the toughest receiver in the NWC once again, taking huge hits after almost every one of his 5 receptions. The Sophomore WR is developing a nack for being clutch, catching a pass from Welch on a huge 4th down and not only converting it into a first down, but taking it to the house to seal the deal against the Loggers.

Defense:
Senior Joe Kopp led the team in tackles with 10 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss, and 2 pass break ups.

Fellow Seniors Clay Israelson and Evy VandenEkart both had interceptions for the Pioneers.
